About Annapurna Massif

Annapurna massif is in north-central Nepal in the Himalayas. This 55 km long massif is bounded by River Marsyangdi on north and east, by River and Gorge Kali Gandaki in West, and by Pokhara Valley in the south. Annapurna Sanctuary- high basin enclosed the Annapurna Massif at the western end. On the western side of Annapurna massif, Dhaulagiri Massif is neighbored. These two massifs are separated by Kaligandaki Gorge and the river.

What is the meaning of Annapurna in Nepali, Sanskrit and Hindi Language?

In All Hindi, Nepali, and Sanskrit, Annapurna makes the same meaning. The two Sanskrit words make up the Annapurna word. ‘Anna’ and ‘Purna” means food and filling respectively. Annapurna1 has the greatest fatality rate. In 2014, 39 people were killed as a result of avalanche and heavy snowstorms. As of March 2012, 52 people haven dead during ascents, 191 successful ascents and 9 death upon descent. Hence, 34% of people were dead on the attempt of the Annapurna expedition.
