After trekking to Ghoorepani Poon Hill, I just can’t stay without reviewing it. Recently (few weeks back) I had joined the group of Luxury Holidays Nepal. Our group was of 8 persons. It was very nice to walk along with them. That journey is my lifetime memory with some of the most exciting moments. It was so much funny to talk with our guide and porters while walking or on rest. Our guide Mr. Akash Gurung was so dedicated and passionate to trekking and also nice English speaker. He gave us much more information about the Himalayan, and idea to survive in cold and high altitude. It is fair to say the route is remote but despite of that luxury holidays made our accommodation and meals so better. They arranged it very nice. I liked the way they organized the trip. They help when you need, they feel nice to share things and talk with everyone. So thank you Luxury holiday Nepal and its team for making my trip epic and elite. Your excellent effort and work dedication made my trip a very nice vacation. I am planning for another holiday in Nepal. So hope, we will meet soon.Published: Sunday, August 11, 2019

We went on the Ghorepani-PoonHill 10 day tour which included a 6 day trek along the Annapurna foothills. It was fantastic. Our group was 6 adults and 3 children aged 12-16 and all had average to good fitness and flew through the trek. The itinerary was great and just the right amount of planned activities. Our guides were Ramesh and Ram and they were great. One of the kids ended up sick and could not trek with us, so Ramesh organized for a porter to stay at Pokhara and bring them up when he was well enough and we met up at the halfway point. When we ended up wanting to walk longer on the last day and cut the trek shorter, Ramesh just sorted it. While we of course had to pay for the extra accommodation, Ramesh and Ram just sorted anything that arose, or we raised, easily. The itinerary allowed plenty of Kathmandu exploration both guided and independent. The standard of accommodation ranged from exceptional to good. Everyone we came across in Nepal was friendly and the team at Luxury Holidays Nepal was no different. This time of year was monsoon season however the weather was exceptional.

We had an excellent introduction to Nepal with LHN on a 14 day tour including a 5 day Annapurna trek together with rafting and a visit to Chitwan. The scenery and people of Nepal are worthy of a 5 star rating and more than compensate for the less than 5 star infrastructure and accommodation. Don't let the latter discourage you from visiting Nepal as the country really needs tourism to support the economy.
We had an excellent tour guide and our ever friendly group of porters, Ram, Puran and Nabin. Our group of 10 from New Zealand and England had very good driver who safely negotiated the route from Kathmandu to Chitwan despite the road conditions, landslides, traffic jams and ever honking buses and trucks overtaking in sometimes suicidal maneuvers. 7 hours for 70 kilometers can be a little trying for all concerned. On the 2nd day of the trek we did get to Gorephani early enough in the afternoon to see the sunset from the top of Poon Hill which was a good option for us. We had very good email communication from LHN prior to the trip and any hiccups along the way were ably handled by Guide.

A general rule of thumb for tipping is to USD 40 to USD 70 per Traveler, depending on the length of the trek. Porters do appreciate a personal tip, although it is not uncommon for the Guide and his Porters to pool the tips they have collected before splitting it amongst themselves, with the Guide is getting a little more for overseeing the welfare and safety of both the Travelers and Porters as a whole. That said, this is just a guide and you may tip, however much you think is appropriate for the services rendered which made your trip a memorable one.

During the trip; weather, local politics, transport or other factors, that are beyond our control can result in a change of itinerary. It is however very unlikely that the itinerary would be substantially altered. If alterations are necessary the leader will decide what is the best alternative taking into consideration the best interests of the whole group. Where a change does occur, we do everything we can to minimize its effect.
