One of the premier mountain peaks in seven thousand meter elevation Pumori is traditionally known as “the daughter of the Himalaya” which is located between Tibet and Nepal. The Pumori peak lies in the Khumbu region of Nepal, one of the most prominent seven thousand peaks. Pumori is a technical peak and any climber or trekker with adequate experience is recommended for this expedition.

Mt. Pumori (7161m/27,494ft) will test your perseverance and getting over abilities, however like all mountains, the prizes will predominantly make up for the work expected to arrive at its culmination. Mt. Pumori is situated on the boundary of Nepal in the Mahalangur Himal in the Himalayas, extending from Nangpa La Pass between Rolwaling Himal and Cho Oyu to the Arun River. It incorporates Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu - four of earth's six most elevated tops.

Route to Pumori Expedition

The expedition is completed with the setup of three camps from base camp to Camp III.

Base Camp: The base camp is situated at an astounding elevation of 5,300m

Camp I: From base camp, you’ll climb through the glaciers and knife-edged ridge of the hillside for about 4-5 hours and reach Camp I which is situated at an elevation of 5,700m

Camp II: From camp I, we climb the face with 40-60 degrees slope and pass through a snow wall to reach Camp II which is situated at an elevation of 6,200m

Camp III:  Last but not least Camp III is situated at an elevation of 6,480m which is reached by climbing through ice walls and crevasses from Camp II, the deciding peak whether you will push for the summit or not depending upon the weather of that present day. Your professional guide will monitor the situation and decide whether to push for the summit or not. If not possible, you'll be descending down the base camp and pushing for the summit the next time.

Pumori Peak First Expedition

Pumori peak was first successfully climbed by Gerhard Lenser from a German expedition team on May 17th, 1962 via the Southeast face of the peak. An outlier of Pumori is Kala Patthar (5643m/18,513ft), which appears as a big brown bump below the impressive south face of Pumori. Pumori has one of the treasured views of Mt. Everest and an amazing view of Tibet including the Rongbuk glacier.
